Premier drums has its roots in 1922 where Albert Della Porta, a young professional drummer in London, teamed up with Boyle Drums Production Manager, George Smith, and Albert's younger brother Fred. In a rented basement, they began making drums.

The team at first specialized in portable drum kits, but soon enough they were selling timpani and other orchestra percussion instruments. In the 50's came their highly successful cymbals and drum heads, and the 60's saw much success in marching and pipe band drums and symphonic percussion instruments, along with much success exporting.
